A mobile is pocket friendly while tablet has large screen which causes trouble to fit in pockets. You can easily make calls on phone. Some versions of tablet have voice calling facility through SIM however it would be uncomfortable to make call on it due to bigger size. Also it has been observed that companies rarely provide timely updates other than of Samsung and Apple. So you must consider buying tablet only when you are interested in doing work that you feel you can't do it on mobile properly.
